duck hunting, an engineer, and a farmer

Sitting on my front porch one evening with fall approaching, my father-in law and I began discussing the upcoming 2019 duck season. It just so happened we had come across a sweet deal on some new, foam filled, flocked head, over-sized decoys.

We had 5 dozen that needed to be rigged. With  large fancy decoys we needed some seriously durable Texas rig style decoy anchors.

In no way do I want to take away from the fellas at Liftetime Decoys. They make an excellent product and many of the guys in our group have their rigs. I have much respect for those guys and their products.

Like every other do-it yourself duck hunter wanting to save a few dollars here and there, we decided to try and make some of our own. While investigating the different construction materials, we arrived at the question, " What weight (size and shape) are we going to use?"

It just so happened that I had recently acquired a CNC milling machine. Until this point I was just making car parts and random stuff for buddies. 

We designed a couple molds similar to the many other shapes that are out there. Suddenly, it dawned on me to make the weights look like duck heads since they are for duck hunting, plus it would help our decoys stand apart from our other hunting buddies when the season ends and we are picking up. Soon after we had ours together, buddies of buddies began asking for some as well.

That is how LedHedz was born.

From that point on we set out to manufacture some unique, and durable rigs at a reasonable price for folks like ourselves.
